Charles "Bud" C. Rowell, 86, Morgan, died suddenly Wednesday afternoon, November 26, 2008 at Community Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls. He was born January 24, 1922 in Abrams to Alvin and Julia (Betts) Rowell. Charles grew up in the Abrams area where he attended school and played baseball, becoming known for his short stop abilities. Shortly after their marriage Bud entered the US Army during WW II and was medically discharged. Soon after he began farming in the Morgan area for many years before starting his own sawmill. Along with his wife, the couple owned and operated the family sawmill for 25 years and Bud became interested in woodworking, making custom baseball bats and other crafts. Bud is well known for his handcrafted wishing wells, windmills and chairs he designed and built by himself and continued working in this area up until the time of his death. Over the years, he enjoyed playing the fiddle, concertina, harmonica and accordion for his family and friends.
