Bill´s best friend, Jim Jacquart, started school and because Bill was a year younger and left alone, he would sit on the doorstep of the school waiting for his friend. Everyone thought it would last only a few days and when Bill continued to wait, they invited him to come inside to start school with the other children. The school house was next door to Jim´s house and Bill was on the other side. Bill graduated from Oconto High School with the class of 1946 at the age of 16. He then went to work for the Scott Paper Co. for many years. Bill was a very special person. He loved his sister and brother´s families and never said "No" to any request. He also meant a great deal to Lois´s family as well. Bill was a dedicated fire fighter, Lion´s Club member and belonged to the Oconto Falls American Legion firing squad while being a member of the Oconto Falls United Methodist Church. On December 27, 1965 he married Lois Plain and they had a truly happy 42 years together.
