Donald A. Beyer, 80, Green Bay, died suddenly Sunday evening, August 6, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, a place he worked at for years and where co-workers were like his second family.  He was born April 14, 1937 in Sheboygan to Julius and Freida (Ratz) Beyer Sr.  As a little boy, Donald moved with his family to Oconto Falls where he attended public schools and while in high school, was the first male cheerleader.  Following high school graduation he attended Marinette Co. Teacher’s College, UW-Oshkosh and received his degree from Cardinal Stritch.

Donald lived most of his life in Green Bay where he was employed as a teacher and nurse at many schools and hospitals throughout Wisconsin.  Even while teaching, he was drawn to healthcare and started working at St. Vincent Hospital eventually becoming a fulltime CNA.  Following retirement, Donald continued to work at St. Vincent to stay involved with his healthcare family.  He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Oconto Falls.

Survivors are two brothers, David (Sharon) Beyer, Mansfield, OH; Edward (Judy) Beyer, Oconto Falls; one sister-in-law, Sharon Beyer, Marinette; nieces, nephews and cousins; two very close friends, Jim and Candie Cork, Green Bay. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Julius Beyer Jr.

Visitation will be held after 10amMonday, August 14, 2017 at GraceLutheranChurch in OcontoFalls until the time of services.  Funeral services will be held 1pm Monday at the church with Pastor Gary Olson officiating.  Burial will follow on the family plot in WoodlawnCemetery, OcontoFalls. 

The Beyer family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, co-workers and staff for the care and concern shown Donald during their last days together.


Church Service: Monday Aug 14, 2017, 1pm Monday at Grace Lutheran Church

Visitation: Monday Aug 14, 2017, after 10am Monday until time of service at Grace Lutheran Church
