Irene Kopke, 96, Pulaski, formerly of Abrams, went to sleep with the angels Tuesday evening, May 16, 2017.  She was born on September 30, 1920 in Abrams to John and Emelia (Sutrick) Walske.

 On January 24, 1942 she married Raymond Kopke in Abrams.  The couple lived in Abrams for all their married lives where they were members of St. Louis Catholic Church.  Ray preceded her in death on April 15, 1994.  Irene moved to Pulaski in 2001 where she lived out most of her days.  She enjoyed reading, crocheting and baking.  Irene’s family was most important and she treasured watching all of her grandchildren grow and having families of their own.  She will be fondly remembered for making people laugh and be happy.

Survivors are her two children, Charmaine (James) Jagodzinski, TN; Wayne (Carol) Kopke, Abrams; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; one brother-in-law, Joe Kopke, Abrams; nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Walter and Alois Walski and four sisters, Helen Glantz, Berth Malmstedt, Mae Prodell and Florine Morlock.

Visitation will be held after 10am Monday, May 22, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Stiles until the time of service.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12 noon at the church with the Rev. Fr. Bob Karuhn officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery at Stiles.

The Kopke family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers of both Good Shepherd Nursing Home and Heartland Hospice for the amazing care provided to Grandma Irene.

 

Mass of Christian Burial: Monday May 22, 2017, 12 noon at St. Patrick's Catholic Church

Visitation: Monday May 22, 2017, after 10am Monday until time of service at St. Patrick's Catholic Church
