Otto A. Delzer, 90, Oconto Falls, died peacefully Wednesday evening, April 12, 2017 at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center surrounded by his family.  He was born October 31, 1926 in the Town of Morgan to Hugo and Ella (Retzlaff) Delzer.  Otto grew up on the family farm and attended North Morgan School.  As a young man, he served in the US Army during WWII and was stationed in Japan.  Following his honorable discharge from the military, he returned to the Morgan area to farm.

On June 16, 1951 he married Delores Gaertig at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan.  The couple owned and operated a family farm in the Town of Stiles for all their married lives.  Otto was also employed at the Scott Paper Co. for many years until retiring in 1989 at which time he continued to farm.  He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan.  As an avid deer hunter, he continued his annual hunts until the age of 88.  Otto enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as spending time with his special friend, Helen Gohr.

Survivors are his four children, David Delzer, Roger (Bobbi) Delzer, Beverly (John) Wolf, Richard (Heidi) Delzer, all of Oconto Falls; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one brother, Harold (Beryl) Delzer, Morgan; two sisters, Dorothy Petka and Anita Hansen, both of Chase; two sisters-in-law, Betty (Wes) Delzer-Sosinski, who winters in TX; Joan Delzer, Morgan; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Delores in 1999, an infant daughter, three brothers, Alfred (Lois), Hugo Jr. and George Delzer and two brothers-in-law, Ervin Hansen and Ben Petka.

Visitation will be held after 9am Monday, April 17, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan until the time of service.  Funeral services will be held 11am Monday at the church with the Rev. Lloyd Luedeman officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in the Town of Morgan Cemetery.
