Gladys Micoley, 94, Shawano, formerly of Gillett, died peacefully Thursday morning, January 17, 2013 at her home, The Cottages. She was born November 7, 1918 in the Town of Oconto Falls to Joseph and Cora (McMahon) Greenwood.
On June 15, 1940 she married Bernard “Butch” Micoley at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls. The couple lived all of their married lives in Oconto County where together they owned and operated “Butch’s Bar” located between Oconto Falls and Gillett for many years. They are fondly remembered in the area for their love of people, great senses of humor toward each other and all with whom they came in contact with. Gladys was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Gillett.
Survivors include her two children, John “Jack” (special friend, Karen) Micoley, Shawano; Karen Mohr, San Francisco, CA; six grandchildren who she adored, Wade (Marla) Micoley, Chad (Dawn) Micoley, Jayson (Kim) Micoley, all of Green Bay; Jada (John) Trudell, Oconto Falls; Janelle (Glen) Nienhaus, Crivitz; Todd Micoley, Oconto; seven great grandchildren, Mitchell and Jordan Micoley; Justin and Michaela Micoley; Steven and Alexandra Nienhaus; Dylan Rex; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Butch in 2002, three brothers, Clarence, Frank and Hoover Greenwood and five sisters, Mabel, Evelyn, Myrene, Kathleen and Mary.
Visitation with the urn present will be held after 9am Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at St. John Catholic Church, 124 Garden St. Gillett until the time of service. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11am Tuesday at the church with Fr. Dean Dombroski and parish director Marla Clercx presiding. Burial of the urn will take place in Hickory Cemetery, Town of Maple Valley.
The Micoley family would like to thank The Cottages in Shawano, Heartland Hospice and Dr. Genadi Maltinski and his staff for the care and concern shown Gladys during their time together.
